The Prison Education Project (PEP) is an organization that relies on university students and faculty volunteers to help in the program’s restorative justice and prison reform efforts. PEP’s goal is to create a “Prison-to-School Pipeline” by educating and empowering incarcerated individuals by providing weekend classes in California prisons.
PEP at UCI is a club that strives to give students the opportunity to be involved in restorative justice efforts at the local level. Club members collaborate on creating lessons on career development and college readiness skills then visit the facilities to facilitate the lessons and workshops.

Math CEO brings together UCI students and faculty with middle school kids from underserved communities, to explore math and learn about college.
Join us for a couple of hours a week and share your knowledge of math and of college pathways to inspire these wonderful future first generation college students. Your contribution can have a great impact!
For more information about the program, please go to www.math.uci.edu/mathceo, and see the attached flyer.
Math CEO is a great opportunity to practice teaching at the middle school level, and get fieldwork hours. No transportation is required for the meetings on campus (as we bus the students to UCI). For the meetings in Santa Ana, we provide transportation to our mentors.
Math CEO is committed to deliver a very high quality program to the children our community. Therefore, we ask our mentors to engage in an hour of training per week, to become acquainted with both the mathematics content and the pedagogy.
We hope you will join us:)
