TA AssignmentsAll graduate students, except those who have earned an undergraduate degree from an institution at which English was the sole language of instruction according to the World Higher Education Database, are required to demonstrate oral English proficiency before they are appointed to Teaching Assistant or Teaching Associate titles. Please review the English Proficiency for Teaching Assistantships on the Graduate Division website for more information.
A summary of useful information, including eligibility requirements, union representation, and benefits, can be found on the Graduate Division website. TA Assignment ListsQuarterly TA assignments are posted before the start of each quarter and updated as needed.
Faculty TA Request and Student Support FormPrior to the start of each quarter (fall, winter, & spring), faculty and students are asked to provide their requests and schedules via the TA Request Form and Student Support Form. The Ph.D. Program Director will remind doctoral students and faculty when the forms are available. It is important to note that preferences are not guaranteed. Summer TA and Reader AssignmentsSummer TA assignments provide students with additional summer funding while offering valuable professional development through hands-on experience with course planning, development, and instruction under the mentorship of School of Education faculty. The Summer Session Office is the hiring department for summer TAs and readers.
