Conference Presentation & Professional Development Stipend
UCI School of Education Educational Stipend
Doctoral students in the School of Education receive a total of $2,500 towards their conference and professional development activities during their entire course of study. For each event, $800 maximum are designated for being the first presenter and $600 for 2nd presenter attending the conference. The maximum amount that can be allocated to professional development is $800, which would leave at least $1,700 for conference presentations.
To receive the SoE Educational Stipend for Conference Presentation or Professional Development:
A request form must be submitted for approval prior to making any arrangements for travel to make sure that there are sufficient funds available to cover your expenses for each occurrence.
Please save and provide copies of all receipts after the commencement of the travel for: registration fees, air/surface travel, boarding passes, hotel, meals, etc. along with evidence of attending the event like the conference program cover pass and the page your name is listed as a presenter and your name badge etc. Expenses other than the ones listed above are not covered.
A stipend advance for incurred expenses (e.g. registration fees and airline tickets purchased in advance) can be requested on a case-by-case basis. Such requests are subject to the student advisor's and the Ph.D. Director’s approval. Make sure that you purchase and pay for your own ticket, registration, and other expenses. The travel document should not be mixed with other student(s) expenses.
Students are encouraged to explore additional funding sources to help fund travel.
