Meet our Peer Academic Advisors (PAAs)!
Alexis Maddox HarlosHi everyone! My name is Alexis Maddox Harlos and I am a fourth year Education Sciences and Psychological Sciences double major. I’m a first generation college student from Anaheim, CA and grew up spending a lot of time in the Irvine area. I am so excited to be working in the School of Education Office of Student Affairs this year as a Peer Academic Advisor and to have the opportunity to offer support and guidance to other students on their journey at UCI. I also work as a Resident Advisor (RA) in Mesa Court Housing and serve as a C.O.A.C.H. for the Counseling Center. In my free time you can find me going to concerts, playing guitar, traveling, spending time with my friends and family, working out, rock climbing, or taking photos. Don’t hesitate to reach out or stop by our office if you have any questions! Zot zot zot!

Jiexiao (Jacob) Wu大家好!¡Hola a todo/as! Hi everybody! My name is Jiexiao Wu and you can call me Jacob. I am a third-year undergraduate student who double majors in Education Sciences and Criminology with a minor in Spanish. I am a first-generation college and international student from Suzhou, China. As a student who is passionate about research, I have a variety of research interests, such as multilingualism, bilingualism, analytical writing, AI (ChatGPT), criminal justice, etc. One word to describe myself is super self-disciplined. One “fun” fact is that I just achieved a 1500-day streak on Duolingo last week. In my spare time, I love bamboo flute and have been playing it for over 9 years. Glad I can be a part of the PAA team and feel free to reach out if you need any help!

Amber LiangHello everyone! My name is Amber Liang (she/her) and I am a fourth-year Education Sciences, Psychological Science, and Urban Studies student. I am super thrilled and grateful to be serving as one of your Peer Academic Advisors for the 2023-2024 academic year. At UCI, I am also involved in the American Red Cross Club and I serve as a peer coach for the Counseling Center! In my free time, I enjoy being crafty, playing or listening to music, traveling to new places, and learning random facts! A fun fact about me is that I enjoy origami, and I actually folded over one thousand tiny paper cranes in two months in 2021. One piece of advice I can offer is to simply step out of your comfort zone and open yourself to new experiences! From joining a club to applying for a campus job to utilizing UCI’s beneficial resources, seeking out different opportunities to involve yourself within the campus community will make your time here at UCI extremely meaningful and memorable. I look forward to helping you navigate your college journey, and feel free to reach out if you ever need any assistance or have any questions! Zot, zot, zot!
