Hi everyone! My name is Mariajose Lopez and I am a fourth-year Education Sciences and Social Policy & Public Service double major. I am a first-generation college student from Coachella, CA. While at UCI I have served as a peer mentor for the School of Education, worked at the Bren Events Center Concession Stand, and joined Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Incorporated where I am now President. I am also currently an ambassador for the Student Achievement Guided by Experience (SAGE) Scholars program where I get to promote community for students to network with one another and develop their professional skills. In my free time, I enjoy trying out new coffee/ matcha spots, and spending time with friends and family. I am extremely excited to be a returning peer academic advisor, please don’t hesitate to visit us. ¡Soy bilingue! Zot! Zot! Zot!

Hi everyone! My name is Melinda Aguilar and I am a fourth-year Education Sciences and Social Sciences double major. I’m originally from Orange County and currently a student at UCI, where I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide range of grade levels, including college students. My goals and aspirations center on supporting low-income students in finding their voice and achieving success in their academic journeys. As a Latina, I find it especially meaningful to show young Latina girls that they have choices in shaping their academic paths, whether in science, education, medicine, or beyond. It has always been important to me to demonstrate that it is possible to thrive as a Latina woman in higher education, even while pursuing two very different majors that inspire me in unique ways. Outside of academics, I enjoy playing pickleball with my friends and watching new movies and shows. If you ever stop by, feel free to share a recommendation, I’m always on the lookout for something new to watch.

Additionally, I am a Pathfinder Peer Educator at the Student Outreach and Retention Center (SOAR). Some of my hobbies include listening to a wide variety of music and taking solo trips exploring Irvine/OC. I’m excited to be your Peer Academic Advisor at the School of Education! ZOT ZOT ZOT!
