Meet our Peer Academic Advisors (PAAs)!

Picture
Hi everyone! My name is Mariana Ramirez, and I am a fourth-year student double majoring in Education Sciences and Psychological Science. I am a proud first-generation college student from Perris, CA. I’m beyond excited to serve as a Peer Academic Advisor for the 2024-25 academic year! In addition to this role, I’m an Ambassador for the UCI SAGE Scholars Program and have been involved with the UCI Summer Bridge and C.O.A.C.H. Programs. During my free time, I love reading, dancing, baking, and spending time with friends and family. I’m excited to use my knowledge and experiences to support students as they navigate their own journeys at UCI. Feel free to drop by our office – we’re here to help! See you all soon! Zot, Zot, Zot!

Hello, everybody! My name is Lauren Grace Patag and I am a fourth year Education Science major with a minor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. I’m from Brea, CA and I was raised here in SoCal by my grandparents who are immigrants from Manila, Philippines. Last year, I arrived at UCI as a transfer, so I am overjoyed to return this Fall as your Peer Academic Advisor for the 2024-2025 school year. On campus, I am a C.L.A.P. Learning Assistant as well as a member of Metro Theatre Co., a student-led theatre organization, where I’ve held positions as Hair & Makeup Supervisor and Director (Staged Reading). In my free time, I visit friends and family and my slower days are often spent making matcha, writing music, thrifting, or adding even more stationery to my collection. If you need any help, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Hi everyone! My name is Katie Calderon and I am a fourth-year Education Sciences major. I am a first generation Latina student from Lawndale, California. I am looking forward to working with the Education Advising Office and to offer you all support and guidance. On campus, I am a Coordinator and Discussion Leader for University Studies 1. I love helping first years transition and navigate their way through UCI. I create lesson plans every week during the Fall and Winter quarter, which provides resources, mentorship, and support. As a first year, this program really helped me as I was a first generation student and it was my first time being away from home, so I hope to do the same to other students! In my free time, you can catch me at concerts, especially my Latino artists!! I love the beach, especially during sunset hour. I love to hangout with my friends and family. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or just want to talk!! Zot Zot Zot!!

Hi everyone! My name is Mariajose Lopez and I am a third-year Education Sciences and Social Policy & Public Service double major. I am a first-generation college student from Coachella, CA. While at UCI I have served as a peer mentor for the School of Education, worked at the Bren Events Center Concession Stand, and joined Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Incorporated where I now serve as Vice President. In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym, listening to music (I like a little bit of everything but my favorite genres are reggaeton and banda), and hanging out with my friends and family. I am extremely excited to be a peer academic advisor, please don’t hesitate to visit us. ¡Soy bilingue! Zot! Zot! Zot!
